TRANSLATIONS
(2010–2014)
From time to time, I've tinkered with translating medieval poems, usually because I stumbled across something in my research and wished that more people could read it.
My version of a terribly sad piece of Latin verse, Paul the Deacon's "Epitaph for the Baby Hildegard, Daughter of Charlemagne and Queen Hildegard," was published in the special summer 2014 translation issue of Able Muse.
My attempt to capture the humor in the short verse of a bishop from the age of Charlemagne, "Four Poems by Theodulf of Orleans," appeared in the August 2010 issue of The Heroic Age: A Journal of Early Medieval Northwestern Europe.
